You mentioned trying to put in a dive before Glastonbury

Well, this Friday is good for me as well as the Sunday (17th) (but it is Fathers day)

the only worry is if my ankle doesn't recover in time, pretty damn good twist and the bruise is now coming out well

so about 50 50 at the moment

I know you are at Glastonbury the following week

and don't worry there will be no football before the next dive

I've extended my holiday by a week so that I can be in Barcelona for the Nit de Sant Joan.

Apparently the entire city is lit up by bonfires and fireworks all night, people burn old furniture and any thing else deemed unnecessary and flammable. Obviously being held on Midsummers Eve it was a pagan festival to celebrate the summer solstice.

According to tradition you have to celebrate the whole night and then enjoy the sunrise at the beach, sounds good to me.

From what I've read people just get drunk and throw fireworks at each other. Paul's ideal party.

Its the Moseley festival, in the private park. Dozens of small local bands playing and only £5 entry fee.

If the weathers nice it's a nice opportunity to sit in the park, if not well then we can just buy some cartons of wine, strap on our wellies and stagger about trying to churn up the grass into mud. Also there's all the pubs of Moseley to shelter in should the weather turn nasty.

Start: 11:42
Start: 30 Jun 2007 - 11:42
End: 1 Jul 2007 - 05:00

Also on Saturday, in addition to Mozfest, is the Rootsville festival in the Custard Factory. World and folk music from across the globe, including the Inspiral Carpets.

Tickets are free until 5pm after which it will cost you £20 to dance away until 6AM. Other artists listed are Steve Gibbons, The Destroyers and ( I know Rich loves them ) Mistys Big Adventure. They also have Boom Boom, BOMM BOMM BOOM, and BOOF BOOF BOOF in the Medicine Bar.

Also a "Thrillout Room" which sounds exciting.

Love it or loath it is happening. I can't wait. Joe is breathless (literally) with excitement. Rich thinks its an excuse for Uncle Tony to stop us from having fun. Fessy is of the opinion smoke smoke smoke!

Perhaps we should have a fight. To the death.

(Or a game of badders. Whoever wins is correct, which is not Richard)

The Tour De France is starting in London this year, the prologue time trial around the streets of London on the Saturday followed by a stage from Greenwich to Dover ( through Kent ) on the Sunday.

I'm toying with the idea of going down to watch, find somewhere along the route to park up, listen to the race on the radio and cheer on your favoured rider then watch everyone sweep past and continue your picnic. If the weathers nice it might be fun.

Start: 11:00

The Destroyers are playing in Cotteridge park on Saturday and there is a samba parade down Franklin Road.

The weather is looking reasonable for the weekend, anyone up for a picnic?

England play France for a place in the Rugby World Cup Final.

The English say that last week they had beaten Australia before they even left the dressing room but this week they will need to start the match before victory can be assured.

All they need to do is score lots of tries, kick lots of penalties, make no mistakes and throw and catch the ball without dropping it or giving it to the froggies, don't let the froggies take the ball off us when we're tackled, don't let the froggies keep the ball when we tackle them and a few other things too.

It is sure to be very exciting whoever wins.

It's the Rugby World Cup final and this time nothing is going to get in the way of me watching it in a pub.

Can England be the first team ever to successfully defend their World Cup ? Can they be the first team ever to win the final after losing a match in the preceding competition ?

This will be a revenge match where England will attempt to avenge their beating at the hands of RSA only a few weeks ago. Since then England have learned how to play rugby, how to mostly not drop the ball, how to not give the ball away and RSA have looked quite dodgy defensively at times.

I think we will win but as ever I will be watching for someone doing something really stupid and throwing it all away.

Black Galaxy and Broadcast are providing film scores to silent movies in the Eastside Gallery Space before it closes for the winter. It's free and it's fancy dress as well. Should be good.
