Discussion has begun amongst some club members about our holidays and trips for this year, one of the first ideas in 2004 was a trip to Las Vegas and then a roam around the countryside perhaps taking in the Grand Canyon, San Fransisco and Los Angeles.
Initial research has uncovered the following 'ball park' information:
- Flights: It should be possible to get a flight to Las Vegas from somewhere in the region of £250 - £330 from Birmingham ( BHX ), this is only after a quick search so experience suggests that given enough advance planning £250 is a fair estimate, ideally we'd like to fly to Las Vegas and then fly back from either LAX or San Fransico which could well add another £50 - £100 to the ticket price, further investigation is necessary on this point.
- Distances: Las Vegas looks like it's kind of in the middle - bottom of Nevada and I've roughly estimated the distances from here to nearby attractions:
- 200 Miles East: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon
- 250 Miles South West: Las Vegas - Los Angeles
- 400 Miles North West: Las Vegas - San Francisco
- 300 Miles North West: Las Vegas - Yosemite ( Yogi Bear and [Doom, Doom, Doom - We're All Going To Die|huge volcano] )
- Accomodation: I haven't investigated this much yet but I reckon there will be a few cheap B&B's or whatever around the place, and hey it's great country side so we can always camp!
- Stuff to do: Seems like there is no shortage of stuff to do in the area, first of all there is countryside which is supposed to very 'purdy' and is stuffed full of outdoor type activity centres; mountain biking, fishing, walking, scuba diving, kayaking, boating, sand surfing, surfing etc etc. Then there's all the other stuff - Grand Canyon, Las Vegas nightlife, Colorado river - huge damn, Yosemite and all the stuff on the coast as well.
- Expense: I reckon on around £300 for the flights all in so maybe £30 - £40 a night to stay indoors or a lot less for camping - we could look into getting an RV for which there are thousands of places to park it. Depends how much we want to spend how long we want to stay.

Sounds Great
I'll get Lucy to make arrangements on our behalf. I've found the money for the trip in my jeans pocket as I was emptying them for the laundry. Fnar Fnar

Was this after you had been in the pub drinking lots of bitter?
