I have calculated that my complete force has a points value of 836 points with no heavy support or elite components. I have just HQ, Fast Attack and and two divisions of troops. I can therefore call upon a force to fit any points value equal to or less than that.

Do you think 4 way battles will work properly ? Are there any special rules for that - I am concerned that whichever player goes last will find that they no longer have any army left after the first 3 have blown it out of existence on their first goes. A lot of battle reports I have read on the internet seem to indicate a good proportion of your troops can be wiped out in the first round before you even get to move them if you're not careful.

These are the key strengths/weaknesses of generic armies of the types we have.
Orks: rubbish shooting, great close combat
Necron: great shooting, rubbish close combat
Space Marine: not bad at everything
Dark Eldar: good shooting, fast
Galactic rule
The easy solution is who ever wants to win needs to be with the necrons.

Battled phil on Friday. I think we both thought I was winning - until his orcs got up close and then they cause shit loads of damage. My little men (stranded by helicopter crash in an orc-infested hell-city) were just tinned meat for their savagery.
However, the Chapter have learnt from this and HQ are busy reorganising units and updating tactics to cope with this new menace.

I happened to be passing GW today, and happened to go inside to see if they had one or two special weapons I think might be useful and looking at my purchases the man said "Ah ha, you are a man of taste and distinction I see". Of course, according to Warhammer rules and GW regulars there is NO WAY that certain armies can work together. DO we really have the force of will to go against the GW crew?
I think the easiest way to sort it is to have four armies of equal point value and then randomly determine who goes with who. It does raise the question of a 3way... maybe then if 2 people have smaller armes they can join up against one person with a bigger one.
BY the way.. I have almost finished the cityscape - which means our first battle can be on alien-swampland or destroyed city. The former allows for more open fighting, the latter for more cover.
