Techno

There was an article on the Guardian website the other day by Alan McGee that was said the Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson invented techno music in Detroit in the 80's and Juan Atkins complained that they did not get the recognition they deserved. Well having seen Model 500 the other night playing that music, all I say is KRAFTWERK!

Sound

I think that the Palazzo dei Congressi has the best sound I have ever heard in a venue it is absolutely amazing. It has a cool roof terrace that from which you can see the whole of Rome. I was accused of both being a performer and a member of the digeratti last night, not sure what that means. Last night I saw a band called Yacht who were pretty entertaining, Stephen O'Malley et al who were shit, Caribou who were pretty amazing Yo La Tengo mixed with the Liars, DJ Switch who Dan would hate, Booka Shade (very Germanic) and Loco Dice who kept fucking up his mixes.

DJ Switch

You are right there. Been listening to his website. Sounds like the sort of worst quality shite I was listening to in Kansas 12 years ago. A best it could be described as Broad Street. Terrible.

Ha ha.

Not sure you would here anything remotely like DJ Switch in Broad Street.

Rocococo

Breakfast Bar even bloody Bar Risa!

Revolution.

And....

When was the last time you were in any of those bars?

You don't

have to be in them to hear what music they play!

Ha ha

Really? The last time I walked down the Street of Sin all I could hear was a cacophony of noise, but you obviously have the ability to pick out different ranges and distance with your SuperDan hearing and thus hear DJ Switch eminating from anywhere. Ho ho ho.

yeas

I notice you are not denying that DJ Switch is just another Broad St house purveyor!

"cacophony of noise," a generous description of DJ switch I think!

ha ha ha.

Heretic

Switch is not another Broad Street house purveyor, he has remixed everyone from Nine Inch Nails through to Basement Jaxx. I think his music is a bit twisted, taking the strangest parts of a track and looping them over beats and then will completely change the tempo and turn it into the most fucked up hip hop track you'll ever hear before bursting out with some hands in the air jump around nuts noise. He is also a fellow baldy!

From my limited experience of Broad Street you either get chart pap, shitty covers bands, 70/80s revival rubbish or Hed Kandi style girlie non-descript bland house. Switch cannot be described as any of that.

then

why does his website sound like a combination of boring middle of the road hip hop and Hed Kandi house?

!

There

would appear to be 2 DJ Switches. That would explain things.

Licensing Laws

Oi Dan, I've just read that most nightclubs are getting around the restrictive licensing laws by becoming "private members" bars some charge membership fees but most waive the fee for the first few times you visit.

cool

sounds good!

2am did sound rather depressing

I will

be mostly finishing my individual research project. Freedom for me starts spring bank holiday,

Individual Research Project?

Is the title "what I did on my I holiday"?

I had finished mine by Christmas, four months before the deadline, and still managed to hand it in late.

Doh!

No the title is

"Can tourism help promote political stability in the Hoggar region of southern Algeria."

Went to Rome last year

Went to Rome last year during May, loved it
