Grants Stag Do

27 Mar 2010 - 11:00
28 Mar 2010 - 00:36
Etc/GMT

Grant is proposing to have his stag do on Saturday 10th April (the two back up dates are the 13th March and 27th March). At present it is likely to be:
Clay pigeon shooting – (I think he might be copying someone here)
Off Road Carting – (maybe not)
Jongleurs Comedy Club Broad Street (yep, he is copying)
And then Hotel on Broad Street for those that wish to stop

Prices
Clay Pigeon Shooting £42.50pp for 25 shots
Off Road Carting £42.50pp for 1hr session
Jongleurs £26pp although they told me a new pricing structure will shortly be announced
Hotel – best deal I have found is Jury’s Inn, based on 12 people, 3 people a room, £90 a room, £30pp
Therefore grand total around £140

So, who wants to see Grant get stupidly drunk again?

Who can make which date

10th April or 27th March are you available for either?
Paul I know you can't make 10th but is the 27th good for you??

stag

paul should be able to make 27th march no problem chris

pricing

struggling to fing the clay pigeon shooting cheaper, best one is £37.50 over at the Warwick shooting centre, but this is for 20 shots, also the origninal one is 10% off in we do it in the March dates, therefore £38.25

Off road carting has the same 10% if done in the March date, therefore 38.25 again
the other places i have looked appear to be more expensive

Jongleurs, which is now highlights, now comes in at £18pp (1.50 deposit when booking)
This includes the food, the table dressing, and a stella

The above will most likely be run in that order, so join/leave at the activities that best suit you

So maximum price for the whole day should be 94.50 for March or 103 for April, which would be shooting, driving, eating, a drink, laughing and then a nite-club

I am open to suggestions, Grant does not want Paintballing, i know that activity does work out cheaper, e.g. a whole day including lunch and 500 shoots for £35 ... actually that is damn good value ...

either.....

either one is good for me

27th March

Hi, Grant has gone for the 27th of March, i have kicked out texts to everyone i think, sorry if i have f@cked that up and missed you out, if you could let me know which events you fancy, thanks, Chris

Me

Can you put me down for the evening comedy shing dig? cheers!

Stephen

Yep.

Me too. Just the comedy thingy on the night please.

Activities.

Chris do you know what order you are doing stuff in? Not sure if I'll be able to afford both shooting and karting but I quite like to do at least one of them.

We going to Snobs after the comedy has finished? ;)

Yes please.

The night club it turned into after the comedy last time was awful!

Anywhere else would be a step up!

Bar Twat

Yep utter shite and full of brainless idiots looking for fights.

Paul did his trick of being completely oblivious to the fact that he was going to get a kicking by walking into the middle of two large groups of Asian lads squaring up to each other. He tried to hug one of them and made a noise that went something like:

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeeeeeeeee"

I dragged him off.

We should go to the A & B.

The craziest thing......

The craziest thing paul did at Grants previous Stag doo was invite jenny clarkson (Grants ex). She didn't turn up though.

Thanks Col and Ste the order

Thanks Col and Ste

the order of the events will be
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Off-Road Carting
Comedy Club

basically, if you get dirty carting, you will be able to get changed before the comedy club, but wouldn't if we then went on to the clay pigeon shooting

I must admit to not remembering too much about the nightclub part, (i do remember that Paul bit to some extend), is this something i need to get changed?? just assumed it would be easier to get a group of lads in where they already were ....

The Comedy

Don't get us wrong - the place is great whilst the comedy is on it's just it turns into a we've got six knuckles and nine toes and know how to use them type place once that's finished. You know just like everywhere in Sutton. ;)

Tossers.

To be honest I just could not wait to get out of the place once it turned into a nightclub. It was full of tossers looking to pull or fight or both.

Too old for all that shit now.

i must admit i am used to

i must admit i am used to it, living in Sutton ;)

no, its fair comment ... if the place is useless after the comedy maybe we should set up somewhere else to go ... or is it a case of see what happens after the comedy, if its good, stay, if not, then head someone else (where would you suggest)

Titty Bar

Legs 11. ;)

i actually know where that

i actually know where that is now after trying to find a parking spot for a training session at the Jury's Inn

Don't You Mean?

"Training Session"

Mar 27th

Just to let you know that Grants Stag do is just the evening event now, the daytime activities of Clay Pigeon Shooting and Off Road Karting have been dropped to ensure there is enough money to spend on drink in the evening.

Champagne

Does that mean we'll be able to pay for "champagne" at Legs 11?

Appartment

Would anyone be interested in stopping at an appartment on Brindley Place at the night of the stag?
Yes, you might have to share the double bed, but at least there will be no wait for a taxi.
The maximum price if someone takes it up should be 22.50, and if 3 of you take it up it will be £15

Grant is hoping that even if you don't stay the evening that we might gather there after the stag do, it might be easier to wait there for a taxi than standing on the streets of Birmingham

There might also be the possibbility of wasting the afternoon playing wii and xbox games, as the appartment will be available from midday

Also, the nice people at the Comedy club have changed what they have said previously
Doors open 9:15pm
Doors close at 9:45
Comedy starts at 10:00
(not quite the times given before)

The price is £18.50 but this does NOT include food (something again different to what they said before, but would explain why in 3 different phone calls i was given 2 different prices)

It is booked, the amount is payable a week before the event
As long as we let them know over 8 days before the event, only the booking fee of 1.50 will be lost

Rich did point out that it might be daft for me to have the money on the night as i would be walking around with a lot of cash, and he is right, so if you see me before the event can you pass some cash me some cash please

Would anyone fancy food in town before the event, curry, pub (Mel Gibson, maybe you can set me up a poll)
Joe, I can't alter the date of the event from 10th April to 27th March, can you help?

cheers
Chris

Free

March of April is fine for me, March for preference 'cos it's cheaper.

How about you just arrange paint balling anyway - we needn't give Grant a gun so technically he wouldn't actually be paint balling himself, just acting like a target. You could tell him we were doing target shooting.

All Day Drinking

What's wrong with going to a Wetherspoons and spending £140 on booze?

£140 each

surely that would kill us?

Nah...

Not if we had three or four bottles of Bollinger each.

Chris

Is this the place you're looking at to do the karting with ?

Looks like fun but what's all that stuff about it being a "non contact" sport ! I seem to remember the indoor karting was also non contact but that it didn't stop people crashing into me constantly.

Sorry, this place here: http://www.garlandsleisure.co.uk/offroad.html

Joe - spot on

yep, thats the place Joe

I know what you mean regarding the money, I was hoping to get numbers definite for a weekend and then see if i could get a deal, but i can't see the deal being a massive amount off

I will sort out the times so people can fit in to whats appropriate

I will also see if i can get a more reasonable pricing day, alas Grant does NOT want to go paint balling which seems to be the best value for the time spent doing it (I also see it as tradition to go paintballing for the stag do!)

that would be a shame about Paul Kerri, it is not definite yet and i will tell Grant

Deals

I guess most of their bookings are probably largish groups so I think you'll be lucky to get much off on that score.

I wouldn't mind of bit of paint balling either but I must admit that the karting does look good. One of the other things they're doing, that quad bike trekking is like what I did in Australia ( the day after the end of boat celebration - so hungover I could hardly see ) and that was quite good fun, and dangerous, crashing into trees, turning it over etc.

Good

Sounds good... I will have to check the dates though.

Oh - and maybe the shooting and the carting together would end up being too expensive?

Also... do we get a discount if we have been to one of Grant's previous stag dos?

stag do

paul can't make 10th april, that's his birthday so we're off on holiday. so march would be better for him.

Discount ?

Surely the first one the guests pay for but the second the Stag pays ?

I definitely remember we all, very generously, bought Grant an absolute fortune in Vodka & Whiskey the first time. I'm sure he won't have forgotten and will do the right thing.

Wow!

Bit pricey for me I'm afraid. £140 and I haven't even had a drink yet.

Will it be alright if I just come to the comedy club on the night? Can't see myself being able to afford all this.

Pic N Mix

I got the impression from talking to Grant that you can pick and choose which bits you do, I know he has several people already just coming to the comedy night so I'd imagine that would be fine.
