I saw Karl on the train this morning who invited me and the "usual suspects" to his fortieth at the British Oak on May 8th.
He said he's trying to get a band to play and has a DJ who plays music what he likes - so expect the Ozric Tentacles and the Mighty Dreadzone.

That was a very entertaining evening. As we left the inner circle of Hell were discussing who was was going to be carrying their leader back to his house so I think it's fair to say he had a good night. I've never seen the Oak so busy and it was nice to see Mr Trend again.

a very good night. I felt a bit rough this morning though. We flagged a black cab down who took us a ridiculously long way home which came to £16 on the clock. I asked him several times on the journey where were we going, and he insisted the way he was taking us was quicker. I told the bloke he was taking the piss taking us the way he did and I was only going to pay him a tenner. I got into quite a heated argument with the man who was obviously trying it on because we'd both had a few to drink. In the end, Cat gave him the other 6 quid.

I think I usually end up paying 10-12 quid in private cabs to get back from your 'hood and it's cost me over 16 quid for black cabs back from Harborne ( albeit dropping off folk along the way ) so I don't think you need to feel too bad about it since that's probably not far off a reasonable fare.

if he had taken us the normal way ( up bournville lane and on to linden road), i think it would have only cost 11 quid max. This guy pretty much took us into town via the pershore road and turned left at the roundabout which brought you out by macdonalds drive through. He then took some back streets which just bought us onto the five ways end of hagley road???????
