First Gig

1 Jan 1970 - 00:00

To who ever might be interested - the band I am in at the moment, "Eve's Orchard" have got their first gig on Sunday 22nd February at the Flapper and Firkin in town. I cannot promise that the musical content of the night will actually be any good, but it should be a fun night anyway.

I also heard on the grapevine

I also heard on the grapevine that Emma was singing in a band some time soon as well. Does anybody know if this is true or not and does anyone know when it is? (I suppose I could ask my wife but that would mean speaking to her!)

Is it the one on the corner o

Is it the one on the corner opp whsmith? About half way down the high street?

How much!!!

I hope it's £4 not £5! I thought £3 was steep but I suppose I'm just tight. Mind you, you were quite good so should'nt complain too much. Which one is the Hare and Hounds? I should be going and I bumped into Paul last night and he seemd keen (maybe I should rephrase that, oh well too late now.) Who else is going?

Me

Was he rubbing himself on your leg in a suggestive fashion ? I've heard this is just a sign he likes he. Anyway...

Even if it is a fiver I'll go 'cos it's right near my house.

The Hare & Hounds is on Kings Street High Street pretty much opposite Halfords or if you prefer road names it's on the corner of York Road and Kings Heath High Street ( Alcester Road ). Kings Heath is a nondescript suburb in South Birmingham although many commentators rate it as being far nicer than Bournville based generally on the greater number of pubs and off licences.

This!

Joe the last time we went to gig at the Hare and Hounds you didn't come even though it is just around the corner.

confirmed

I just spoke to the bloke in the other band to confirm Friday 19th. We should be going on about 8ish and they are charging £4/£5 on the door - tight bastards.

gig

We are supporting some band called SO2F on Friday 19th March at the Hare and Hounds. Apparently they are a soul funk band. They said they could give us a 40 minute slot but I got to confirm this. It would be good to see people there. I'll let you know later in the week if its definate. I think I'm gonna get a cab up there this time so I can get pissed up.

I heard it on the grapevine.

The word on the street is that Phil's band are playing again soon at the hare and hounds in kings heath. Can we have this confirmed? Is Phil keeping it quiet because he does not want the same rabble as last time going again?

And a rather splendid gig it was too.

Fair play Eves Orchard. I think I could watch them again. Jolly good show, splendid. Perhaps Joe & Paul should book them for their porn party?

Cool Tunes

Yes that was an excellent gig and a first class night out. Well done & Thankyou Phil, I didn't see a single person walk out once you'd started playing !

Nice one, geezer.

New Glasses

Is that because your glasses were all steamed up?

I walked several times with a need to urinate

Yes but then you came back in

Yes but then you came back in again, a factor I was taking into account in my analysis.

Sadly

Donna works on Sundays (normally not an issue in terms of social life, well the vague social life i have) and i presume i may have difficulty in getting a babysitter.

So sadly it's unlikely I willl be in attendance.

If not, then I hope it goes well and Phil breaks a metaphorical leg.

Who's going?

Is it just Ste, Rachel, Joe, Me and Jeanine going? I have spoken to Rich and he is not sure whether he and Helen are going as they are going out Saturday. That rendition of Bat out of hell sounds ok but a bit too short for me and I think a small deppressed rabbit would sound a lot better than an angry guinea pig.

Horses

No it is a horse race. It starts at 12.00 on Sunday and I cannot decide whether to watch it at home or at t'pub. What time does this gig start? Is the flapper the one by the canal? Will Phils band be covering "bat out of hell"? Are Grant and Donna going?

Bats out of my ass

Last I heard the band was doing a three hour reworking of the song in a homage style to patagonian panpipers. Apparently the second verse is slowed down to last two hours, with each word dragged out for 30 seconds by a resident throat singer from Goo Goo Bloo Bloo. Phil himself appears only fleetingly, wearing only a blue herring and randomly hitting a balloon filled with hornets with an angry guinea pig. Don't sit in the front row.

I am excited

That sounds like fantastic fun, I will so disappointed if it doesn't happen exactly as you describe

Who is still going to this gi

Who is still going to this gig? Are we all just meeting there? Does anyone fancy watching the derby first?

i will go

i shall go - but i don't know what this derby is of which you speak. If it is equine, I may be interested if, as I suspect, it is related to the subculture of violence and tribalism that is football (or "soccer" for you yankers) then I must bow out.

Requests ?

If we get bored, and I'm not saying we will get bored, will you be doing requests ?

-- Death Or Glory. Yo Ho Ho.

Time?

What time will this momentus event begin?

When we're ready to ROCK and

When we're ready to ROCK and not before.

-- Death Or Glory. Yo Ho Ho.

1 louder

My new amp goes up to 12

I'll be there!

I am going to go and I am going to have a drink as I do not have work the next day! Oh goodee!!

Do they sell Bitter?

Are you going to crank the amp up to eleven?

Are you going to do any spice girls covers?

Sounds like fun!

I shall be there (hopefully) to cheer you on - but, being a Sunday I'll be a very good boy indeed!
