CARDIFF

A new contender has arisen, Cardiff - capital of Wales and cultural phoenix of the West.

Cardiff has many things in it's favour as the ideal location for a CLUB outing, it is withing 2 hours drive of Birmingham or an easy train journey for those who do not with to drive.

Once in Cardiff you can have your pick of reasonable priced B&B's or hotels from as little as £15 per night ( and I bet we can find somewhere even cheaper than that if we put our minds to it ).

Nighlife is catered for with a wealth of bars, clubs and resteraunts spreading from the newly developed Waterfront area back into the Old Town. During the day the sheer magnitude of cultural visits to any of the many museums, Castle or locale, shopping in the vast array of designer boutiques, chilling out on the pristine beaches or relaxing in the plush waterfront development is sure to entertain the most miserable CLUB member almost endlessly.

Those CLUB members unencumbered by the ties of families, babysitters and general other unpleastantness are planning on leaving for our chosen destination on the Friday and rendevouzing with our hapless brethren on the Saturday at some predetermined time and place.

We need to decide where we are going ASAP, decide the date we are going and then find somewhere nice to stay.

Cardiff gets my vote also - a

Cardiff gets my vote also - and seemed to be a fairly popular choice all round the other night (although Chris raised objections). According to them, they have a fairy-tale castle in the middle of the city, a fine museum housing one of the best Impressionist collections in Europe outside Paris and the world-renowned Museum of Welsh Life (ahem!)

There is also an event coming up which we might ALL like:

The Elvis Collection - Starring Bill J. McGregor
06/03/2004, 19:30hrs

This 'feel-good' tribute show boasts no gimmicks or impersonations, just one of the liveliest and best dedications to the legendary 'King' you are every likely to see. Featuring classic numbers like Johnny B. Goode, Devil in Disguise and Jailhouse Rock, this fabulous show has over thirty of the finest songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Oh what fun!

I also found this hotel which intrigued me as it was voted one of the top 25 coolest hotels in the world (what? 22.50 a night????)

"The Big Sleep Hotel

It’s smart, cheerful and long overdue, a design hotel at affordable prices, ideally situated in the heart of Cardiff. Voted one of 25 coolest hotels in the world – Conde Nast Traveller.

From £22.50 B & B

Lets get our arse into gear on this baby!

Big Sleep Hotel - I saw this

Big Sleep Hotel - I saw this as well but I am bit confused about the £22.50 price, so far as I can see from their website the prices start at around £40. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. It does look like a nice hotel though, certainly fitting of man of my stature.

confusion

I also was confused - and still am. I think the cheapest is 40 or 45 a night.

I love it !

I like the way Grant learnt how to turn the Caps Lock key for the last two entries on the list.
