I have booked a room in the sensibly named Youth Hostel Malka for the amazing price of 3.90 per night. They say on their web site that they can pick us up from the airport so I have e-mailed them to ask them to pick us up when we arrive.
You can find out all about this hostel here.
Update
Youth Hostel Malka is around a 10min bus/taxi ride from Miraflores - the bus stop is a couple of blocks behind the hostel. There were supposed to be places to eat etc right by the hostel but we never found them apart from a really horrible "food court" with Pizza Hut & Burger King in it. There is however a fairly large supermarket ( the ubiquitous 'Wongs' ) 5 mins in the other direction from the bus stop.
The hostel did pick us up which was a huge bonus for people arriving in Lima for the first time - the huge crowd of touts etc can be a little intimidating as soon as you step off a plane I think. Anyway the lady who picked us up ( who's name I have forgotten ) was very friendly and pointed out lots of stuff to us ( like the Zoo ) on the drive back to the hostel. Her English was a billion times better than our Spanish but mime still played a large part in the communication.
I think there is one person in the Hostel who speaks English ( Henry I think ) but everyone else speaks only Spanish.
The rooms are a nice size and comfortable, their is a ping pong table ( minus one of the balls we accidentally broke - sorry ! ) and a kind of cafe serving hatch you get snacks from. They also have a TV but who's going to sit around watching that ?

Very Camp
Why not take a tent? I'm sure that there is a nice park in the middle of Lima that you could stay in, I've heard that the locals are very friendly. You also have the added bonus of been able to have a camp fire.
