St Fermin

Day Six - Let It Rock

After the nighmare bongo ordeal of the night before Richard had already decamped to the beach long before I woke up to sleep off his hangover under a cooling palm tree.

The day for me followed what was to become a regular pattern ( so regular I am not going to bother saying what I did during the day anymore because generally it was always pretty much identical to this ).

Having had a lovely bracing shower I made my way down to the town to find a nice cafe for some breakfast ( technically probably lunch ) which was very easy to do since virtually every building in Benicassim along the high street is a cafe of some sort.

Before We Left

The bare minimum of planning went into this event, some useful stuff we came across during the course of this planning is here for future reference.

St Fermin - Running With The Bulls

The CLUB visited Spain in the Spring of 2003 to take part in the legendary St Fermin festival, the key highlight of this is the early morning Bull Run down the narrow cobbled streets.

Both Richard and myself have provided, sometimes contradictory, commentaries on the events which unfolded.

Maybe we should do it properly next year!

These people do tours to pamplona and reasonable prices The Party People I think we missed most of the action. I could do with running the bulls again

Get there Straight Away with Joe - Day 8 Sitges

We cant find our way out of the car park, oh, we are in the wrong one.

A long long long drive interrupted by a very pleasant meal in tiny spanish town. I have never ever seen anyone eat an orange in the manner that joe does. Take knife, attempt to half orange, fail, rip open with bare hands, pile of juice on plate, no orange left.

Around 100km from Barcelona, Paul says that he doesn't really wish to drive around the city, we have to look for somewhere else go nearby. We have three choices, Tarragona, Salou and Sitges. Initially Joe wanted to take us to Tarragona, very historical, not really the place to be on your last night says Rob. Salou, similar to Benidorm, Alicante....I reckon the ideal place, not so Joe and Rob. Final choice, Sitges, Joe says oh yes this is obviously the place to be, I thought that Tarragona was this place. Closer inspection reveals very large gay scene, Joe is obviously excited and totally adamant that this is where we go.
